    We're entering the home stretch!
by Jeff Hausman - Friday, 24 March 2017, 8:48 AM

Spring is here and this is often when school gets tougher.  Just like with strenuous exercise, "learner fatigue" sets in and the temptation grows to cut corners. Being aware of these feelings and redoubling your efforts will ultimately lead to the same feelings of satisfaction you gain after a good workout.

The more often you recognize the symptoms of "learner fatigue" and intentionally practice ACADEMIC PERSEVERANCE, the more accomplished you become as an independent learner.

Run the race to the finish line!

Building Your Learner Skills: Help Seeking
by Jeff Hausman - Thursday, 6 October 2016, 10:17 AM

Help seeking is an important learner skill,  and research shows that a person's belief in his ability to seek out information is critical. Specifically, a "lack of [help-seeking] confidence resulted in low-level searches to simply locate information where high perceived self-efficacy leads to more exploration and locating desired information." (Hill and Hannofin)

Your JVLA course is an opportunity for you to practice and build confidence in your help-seeking skills.  We encourage you to use JVLA's "4Fs" strategy and to persevere!
